Café Zickzack Frankfurt am Main

Luminous lighting frames as icosahedrons

Here, looking sharp not only refers to the name and design of the café on the ground floor of the Frankfurt Trade Fair, but also to the pendant lights by mawa.

Since the end of 2018, visitors to the fair have been able to enjoy a refreshing atmosphere under a dozen sculptural LED luminaires goldener schnitt with snacks.

mawa’s pendant lights highlight the geometric ensemble of counter and furniture. The luminaires each consist of three frames, whose aspect ratio corresponds to the ideal of the golden ratio and whose position in relation to each other is defined by fine wire ropes.

The completely contactless, spatial arrangement is based on the tensegrity principle and conveys a feeling of weightlessness. The circumferential, inward-directed light emission not only illuminates their surroundings, but also directs attention to the construction itself.
