The German Lighting Design Award goes to Arup Deutschland GmbH for the Neue National-galerie Berlin

Congratulations to Berlin! Arup Deutschland GmbH wins the German Lighting Design Award in the Refurbishment category for the Neue Nationalgalerie project.

Commissioned with the lighting design, Arup’s task was to develop solutions that meet the curatorial, conservation, functional, technical and energy-efficient requirements of a modern museum, taking into account the original lighting concept. A particular challenge here was to meet the requirements of historic preservation and architecture.

Within the scope of the lighting design, mawa realized the sophisticated installation of high-quality LED technology while preserving the original luminaire appearance. Around 3000 lighting positions were removed from the building in various conditions, and subsequently, professionally refurbished by mawa, and upgraded in accordance with the latest technological standards.
