Seddiner See, April 9, 2025 – With the gangkofner Edition 2025, mawa introduces a reimagining of the iconic designs by Aloys Ferdinand Gangkofner. The relaunch of the collection combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative lighting technology, offering even more creative freedom for architects, interior designers, and lovers of mid-century design. 

Retro Design Classics in a New Light 

The lights of the gangkofner Edition embody a flawless synthesis of iconic mid-century design, modern technology, and quality made in Germany. Mouth-blown Triplex glass, crafted in a renowned Czech manufactory, sets new standards in glass craftsmanship. The 2025 relaunch expands the portfolio to include smaller variants of the Bologna pendant and floor lamps, a refined color selection, and flexible configuration options. 

Each glass is a handcrafted unique piece, highlighting the sophistication and value of the series. By using finely tuned materials, the lights are not only functional but also aesthetically compelling. Whether in private homes, high-end hospitality projects, or modern office spaces, the gangkofner Edition 2025 adds stylish mid-century accents. 

Versatile Design Variants for Tailored Lighting Solutions 

The gangkofner Edition 2025 includes the following lighting variants: 

• Bologna Pendant Light – in standard size and as a more compact mini version 

• Bologna Floor Lamp – as an elegant floor lamp in two sizes 

• Bergamo Pendant Light – with a distinctive, bulbous silhouette 

• Vesuvio Pendant Light – with a gently conical, sculptural shape 

• Pisa Pendant Light – with high-quality glass and glare-free light distribution 

With three color variants – crystal glass, smoked glass, and matte opal white – the series seamlessly integrates into various interior styles. In addition, black textile cables and subtle single and multi-ceiling canopies ensure a stylish integration into both private and professional spaces. 

Thanks to adjustable heights and various multi-ceiling canopy shapes, custom lighting arrangements can be created that meet the highest aesthetic and functional demands. Additionally, mawa offers the option to equip the lights with smart Bluetooth control (Casambi), allowing wireless lighting control via an app. This opens up new dimensions in lighting design and provides each space with a bespoke lighting solution. 

A Legacy with a Future 

Aloys F. Gangkofner (1920–2003) was one of the most influential German glass designers of the post-war era. His works shaped the lighting design of renowned manufacturers and are now sought-after collector’s items. With the gangkofner Edition 2025, mawa brings this design legacy into the modern age – with artisanal precision, modern technology, and a clear form and color language. 

Gangkofner’s designs are characterized by their distinctive glass forms and play with light and transparency. The 2025 relaunch not only pays tribute to his design signature but also represents an evolution that uniquely combines tradition and innovation.
