Editions
Since its founding over 40 years ago, mawa has honored the classical modernist movement. In addition to the Berliner Bratpfanne by Fridtjof F. Schliephacke, well-known designs by designers Wilhelm Braun-Feldweg, Aloys F. Gangkofner, and Günter Ssymank have been technically updated and reissued as lighting series.

gangkofner edition
Aloys Ferdinand Gangkofner (1920 – 2003) is considered one of the most important German glass designers of the post-war era.
The gangkofner edition 2025 combines handcrafted Czech glass with state-of-the-art lighting technology. Each luminaire is a statement of iconic mid-century design with handcrafted Czech glass.
Based on the original designs by Aloys F. Gangkofner, the modular 2025 edition offers flexible design options and integrates harmoniously into living spaces and high-end interior architecture.
schliephacke edition
Fridtjof F. Schliephacke’s (1930–1991) interests ranged from architecture and sculpture to product design. The floor lamp he designed – known as the “Berliner Bratpfanne” – has been reissued in a limited edition to mark its 60th anniversary, available in four purist colours.

braun-feldweg edition
The industrial designer Wilhelm Braun-Feldweg (1908–1998) was one of the most influential industrial designers of the post-war period and played a key role in the professionalisation of the field of design.
He is best known for his designs for glass vases, luminaires, door handles and cutlery. mawa has reissued Braun-Feldweg’s glass pendant luminaires from the 1950s and supplemented them with later designs for aluminium wall lights.
ssymank edition
As a product designer, Günter Ssymmank (1919–2009) combined technology, art and architecture. His “Blüten” floor luminaire, designed in 1959, and the pendant luminaires he designed for the Berlin Philharmonic and the State Library are now part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. mawa has also reissued the floor lamp, known as the ‘ssymmank sy1’, as a pendant luminaire.

kpm edition
Three wall and ceiling luminaires are closely linked to mawa’s 40-year history. They are called Etna, Paul and Eintopf, were originally made from Marmorit and are now regarded as design classics.
In collaboration with the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM), mawa has reissued these three wall and ceiling lights in porcelain; they are crafted in 15 meticulous steps by experienced manufacturers in Berlin.
