Ssymanks pendant lamp and the light of the lotus flower
The term »Sukhavati«, from ancient Indian Sanskrit, can be translated to mean »a place of well-being«. The name of the first Buddhist Center for Spiritual Care in Germany couldn’t have been more appropriate. Southeast of Berlin, situated directly on Scharmützel Lake, the Center offers spirituality, relaxation, community living, nursing care, and training under one roof. In line with the understanding of an open house, »Sukhavati« welcomes all people who approach the philosophy with an open mind and a sense of curiosity – regardless of personal world view or religious denomination.
mawa’s ssymmank suspended luminaire graces and illuminates the bistro tables and all of the counters within the house. Here, the design classic from 1959, designed by Günther Ssymmank, experiences its most charming interpretation as a »lotus flower«. In Buddhism, the lotus flower represents one of eight treasures and symbolizes, among other things, purity, creativity, and the passage of time.
