Federal Archives magazine building Berlin

Chandelier arrangement of surface-mounted luminaires with downlights

Files upon files … 110 kilometers of files are kept in the new magazine building of the Federal Archives in Berlin.

Transparency and openness are central themes of the new building by Stephan Braunfels Architects. This is also reflected in the lighting. In this spirit, 64 cylindrical pendants constructed of metal-mesh are arranged in a circle and hang at a lofty height from the ceiling of the two-story glazed reception area.

Arranged in a circle, they are equipped with an invisible connection at the joint of the supporting corset. mawas seventies surface-mounted luminaires with downlights se-23 form the lighting technology framework of the imposing luminaires. Surrounded by rolled metal mesh, they float high above the files like a chandelier.
