Imposing educational building with table lamps in stone look
Opened in 2012, the modern library building designed by Max Dudler completes the courtyard of honour of the baroque former Benedictine abbey.
Among other things, the grimm table lamp illuminates the tables in the central reading room, around which all the other functional areas are grouped.

The customized individual workplace lighting creates places of individual retreat within the open, imposing room structure. It helps people to concentrate and harmonises perfectly with the architecture in terms of form, design and effect.

The translucent luminaire cover on the top imitates stone structures that are also found on the glass façade of the building.
Today, the campus of the Folkwang University of the Arts is located on the grounds, whose foundation walls date back to the year 799 AD. It is dedicated to interdisciplinary artistic education and offers over 40 degree programmes in music, theatre, dance, design, science and education. Its library is one of the largest with a musicological focus in Germany.
