Thus, representative crown lights with diameters of 2500 mm find their home in the foyers of both lower levels.

The dining areas are served by 6000 mm long profiles with tiltable downlights in our wittenberg spot-heads, as well as surface-mounted wi-ab-4q spotlights. All of which are switchable and dimmable via wireless remote control.

The exhibition rooms are illuminated with track spotlights from the wittenberg system as well as dual-spotlight stands.

In the stairwells and hallways, surface-mounted spotlights complete the picture.

Recessed spotlights and wireless remote controlled profile solutions were chosen for the outdoor bar as well.

In spite of an overall height of only 15cm, an absolutely homogenous illumination was achieved with the Barrisol translucent light membrane; protection class IP 53, Dekra certified product.

mawa engineers designed an original profile for installing the Barrisol translucent membrane with a Keder gasket system. With mawa CNC bending technology, freeform shapes are also possible.

The scenographic challenge is to create thematic space around many diverse objects, from various time periods, within a single floor. The showcases fulfill several functions within this context. They provide structure to the exhibit, subdivide the space, and enable compliance with conservation requirements.

Partly integrated as glass framework, they even recall the half-timbered building structure of the neoclassical 19th century manor house. Glass showcase spotlights are either directly integrated or mounted on an overhead construction. mawa transformed the design of Jürg Steiner Architects into implementable shop drawings and constructed the lights in-house.

The construction consists of a matt glass cylinder mounted on a double joint, containing a standard GU-10 socket. This flexibility allows the light to be easily swivelled and equipped with a several lamp varieties. Power output, light color and beam angle can then be varied as needed according to the selected reflector lamps.

The two, ring-shaped curved profile lights, each with diameters greater than 3 meters, surround the central columns of the room. The positions of their suspension points correspond exactly with the beams.

In each ring, 16 rotatable and tiltable spot-heads illuminate the middle of the room. Indirect lighting components brighten the loft area above.

The palace complex has a total of two cavalier houses arranged opposite each other. They flank the transition from the former farmyard to the cour d’honneur in front of the main building.

In flow

Slender cylindrical rods of satin-finished acrylic glass make their way, cascade-like, through the eye of the main stairwell. To generate the greatest amount of homogenous emitted light, interactions between potential materials to be used were tested in great detail.

Light and light object at the same time

Two ring-shaped crown lights decorate the Rathhaus hall and illuminate the rows of chairs as well as the ceiling. In addition to their volume, a three-part Y-shaped branching suspension made of brushed stainless steel pipes is particularly impressive. Recessed hidden LED strips make the lovely polished interior sparkle, allowing the light itself to become a light object.

The bodies of the lights, made of satin-finished borosilicate glass, attached a small distance away from the white internal-housings with 3 stainless steel knurled bolts each, evenly illuminate the church interior with direct and indirect light, while delivering a comfortable, continuously adjustable, reading light to the pews.

The suspended lights are hung, using a through-ceiling cable protection sleeve, specially developed for use in historical wood-beam ceilings with open space for attachment below the roof. The cable protection sleeve is made of brushed stainless steel, with a minimal disc stop at the ceiling, and the lights are suspended through the sleeve by an elegant, silver, cotton-covered cable with an integrated kevlar security cord.

In spite of their number, this floating ensemble of 6 large and 4 small lights remains reserved, and allows visitors an unhindered view to the altar, even from the gallery.

Under the gallery, eintopf ceiling lights with a custom pebble gray finish are installed. The  form and color of the lights are inconspicuous and unobtrusive in the space of the low room.
