Since 2016, the Neue Nationalgalerie has been refurbished according to plans by David Chipperfield Architects in line with its status as a listed building.
For the project, mawa restored 3108 existing luminaires, partially reconstructed them and equipped them with state-of-the-art LED technology. All luminaire types are DEKRA type-tested and have ENEC certification.
The key was handed back to the Director General of the National Museums in Berlin on April 29 by the President of the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning.
The event took place on the same day at 11 am on Youtube livestream.
This was followed on April 30 at 6 p.m. by an Instagram Live-Tour with museum director Joachim Jäger and Martin Reichert of David Chipperfield Architects.
The mawa team is delighted to be able to contribute all its expertise to the re-lighting of this icon of modernism.
Don’t miss it: the official reopening is planned for August 2021.
