Dorfkirche Steffisburg Kanton Bern Schweiz
Customized crown lights beneath a baroque ceiling
Since 2020, the village church in Steffisburg in the Swiss Canton of Bern has been installed with modern LED technology.
Seven ring-shaped wittenberg 4.0 crown lights illuminate the 17th century protestant worship hall.
Built in the reformed Bern Baroque style, the space is captivating in its simplicity and understated ornamentation – beautiful to see in tandem with the unique decorative ceiling, found by chance during building renovations. Discovered on the underside of dismantled floor boards, it was quickly decided to return the former ceiling to its original condition. Today, with indirect lighting, the decoration once again justifiably glows.
Particular attention was paid to the architectural and use-specific staging by the planners from LICHTTEAM AG. For this purpose a wide range of specific dimming groups were programmed to be controlled over bluetooth. This wish was a challenge for mawa simply because the search for the most efficient light-integrated cabling was a real puzzle.
The rotatable and tiltable spot-heads not only provide ambient lighting, but accent significant features such as the baptismal font, organ, and Moses tablet as well. This explains their occasionally unequal placement on the underside of the curved profiles.
