Holiday home Selma in Gehlberg – holiday home lighting in the Thuringian Forest.

wittenberg 4.0 – simple and contrasting.

As “a reinterpretation of a mountain shelter,” architect Tobis Ruge describes the holiday home in Gehlberg in the Thuringian Forest.

The holiday home Selma in the Thuringian Forest impresses with its simple yet contrasting architecture. The clear lines and the use of natural materials create a harmonious connection between modern design and nature. A key element is the thoughtful holiday home lighting, which perfectly complements the minimalist concept.

The unique location on the slope of the highest mountain village in the region, combined with the expansive panoramic windows of the 120-square-meter house, invites you to gaze over the nature of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

In the holiday home, the lighting is accentuated by lights from the »wittenberg 4.0« series by mawa. These high-quality lights are not only functional but also play a significant role in creating the atmosphere.

The living area and bathrooms of the holiday home are illuminated by mawa, in line with the clear and understated architecture, using the »wi4-eb-1r-kr«, the most minimalist light model from the »wittenberg 4.0« series.

The holiday home lighting focuses on subtle elegance, providing the rooms with a pleasant brightness without disturbing the natural tranquility of the forest.

The holiday home lighting integrates perfectly into the room concept, creating a balanced light that directs the gaze towards the stunning surroundings of the Thuringian Forest.

Great emphasis was placed on creating a healthy living environment and using sustainable, resource-conserving materials.

In this context, the return to historical construction methods and materials seems only natural.

This is evidenced, among other things, by the charred larch wood facade, which follows the »Yakisugi« method – a traditional Japanese technique of wood preservation.

The combination of wood, glass, and light is also perfectly complemented by the holiday home lighting, creating a unique feel-good atmosphere.

Holiday Home Selma is a retreat that exudes a unique sense of calm, not only through its architecture but also through the carefully planned holiday home lighting.

“Making the connection to nature in the exterior also tangible on the inside” was an important concern for Tobias Ruge. This is reflected not only in the thoughtfully chosen sightlines within the interior but also in the consistent use of light solid wood.

In contrast to this, the fireplace, the staircase railing, the sanitary ceramics, and the lights are all strikingly black, creating a bold contrast.

The ‘wittenberg 4.0’ series supports his design ideas perfectly, praises the architect.

‘The design and presence of the series is in no way intrusive’ – Tobias Ruge

The shallow installation depth of the luminaires was mainly due to the limited installation space in the solid wood ceiling.

Das durchdachte Design von »wittenberg 4.0« greift auf grundlegende Geometrien zurück. Die Serie überzeugt mit zeitloser Formensprache und technisch sehr hohem Niveau.
