Zeit für Brot, Berlin-Mitte – Professional Retail Lighting for Artisan Bakeries

A lighting manufacturer meets artisan baking.

The aroma of freshly baked goods and the view into the open bakery kitchen are signature features of the “Zeit für Brot” locations. In 2024, mawa provided a purposefully designed bakery lighting solution that created the perfect lighting atmosphere for the Berlin branch on Alte Schönhauser Straße.

The focus was not only on a visual refresh, but above all on a well-considered bakery lighting concept. It plays a crucial role in highlighting baked goods, guiding customer flow, and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

“This is where we opened our first store in Berlin back in 2012. It remains a popular and lively meeting point for both locals and tourists alike. That’s precisely why we had to stick to a tight renovation schedule — something we managed successfully thanks to the excellent collaboration between the Zeit für Brot team and all the contractors involved.”

The bakery lighting concept consists of several elements: track-mounted luminaires of the type se-12 follow the course of the counter and optimally showcase the product selection.

“I value mawa’s products for their timeless aesthetics, outstanding light quality, and high-quality craftsmanship. In addition, Zeit für Brot and mawa share a common understanding of sustainability — something that, unfortunately, is still not a given today, but is a key criterion for us when choosing our partners.”

Ceiling-mounted lights of the type »se-23« provide pleasant lighting in the seating areas. The concept is complemented by flat recessed lights »wi4-eb-1r«, which gently transition to the cooler lighting of the bakery.
