In-house production and short distances make mawa the ideal partner when it comes to customizing Luminaires and to meet design preferences and usage needs.
The potsdam library desk luminaire was tailored to custom-designed reading desks for one of Europe’s largest specialist archaeological libraries.

Completed in March 2023, the new building of the Mainz-based Leibniz Centre for Archaeology (LEIZA) houses not only an institute area with a library and research laboratories, but also public spaces such as exhibition areas and lecture halls.
Thanks to their minimalist, functional design, the library desk luminaires blend seamlessly into the subtly designed working environment.
They illuminate all 70 reading desks on the first floor of the research center.
With their distinctive colour scheme, the aluminium housings reference the legs of the Trailo® table model by office furniture manufacturer REISS.
The light height of the library desk light, offered in a standard series, combines a large-area lighting result with glare-free visual comfort.
A switch integrated into the light stem ensures individual and, above all, intuitive operability.

The LEIZA (formerly the Roman-Germanic Central Museum, RGZM) is one of eight research museums of the Leibniz Association.
Here, human behavior, social interaction, and environmental interactions are studied, based on material heritage from 3 million years.
The specialized library provides users with over 200,000 analog and digital media on archaeology, ranging from the Paleolithic to the High Middle Ages.
The new building, covering over 10,000 square meters, offers new opportunities for the participants and strengthens Mainz as a research and study location.
