Individually Tailored Minimalism

In-house production and short supply chains make mawa the ideal partner when it comes to adapting luminaires and lighting to specific design requirements and user needs.

For one of Europe’s largest specialist archaeological libraries, the library table light model potsdam was tailored to individually designed reading desks.

Completed in March 2023, the new building of the Mainz-based Leibniz Centre for Archaeology (LEIZA) houses not only an institute area with a library and research laboratories, but also public spaces such as exhibition areas and lecture halls.

Thanks to their minimalist, functional design, the library table lamps integrate seamlessly into the discreetly designed working environment.

The lamps illuminate a total of 70 reading desks on the first floor of the research centre.

With their distinctive colour scheme, the aluminium housings reference the legs of the Trailo® table model by the office furniture manufacturer REISS.

The standard luminaire height used here combines wide-area illumination with glare-free visual comfort.

A switch integrated into the luminaire stem ensures individual and, above all, intuitive operation.

LEIZA (formerly the Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum, RGZM) is one of eight research museums within the Leibniz Association.

Research conducted here focuses on human behaviour, social interaction and environmental interrelationships, based on material heritage spanning three million years.

The specialist library provides users with more than 200,000 analogue and digital resources on archaeology, ranging from the Palaeolithic period to the High Middle Ages.

The new building, covering more than 10,000 square metres, opens up new opportunities for all those involved and strengthens Mainz as a centre for research and academic study.
