Abbey School Einsiedeln Monastery
Ceiling and track spotlights for music house in Swiss grammar school
Music has a long tradition at Einsiedeln Abbey and its charter school. The new music house connects the main baroque building with the newer parts of the school and offers rooms for musical lessons in addition to
a spacious foyer for breaks. The Basel architecture office of Diener & Diener Architects, who designed, among other things, an extension to the Swiss Embassy in Berlin, were enlisted to construct the new building with classrooms and rehearsal spaces.
The project, a collaboration between Diener & Diener Architects and the Einsiedler Architect Ruedi Birchler, who designed the Music house, includes 10 practice rooms and classrooms, as well as a large rehearsal hall.
mawa design produced a custom spotlight according to the design of the architects, using specially printed components in a flowing form which resembles a score of notes.
