The green light was given, over 10 years ago, when mawa developed the potsdam table lamp for the University Library in Potsdam-Golm. Since then, this timeless, often-customized model, illuminates the workspaces of numerous educational institutions both inside the country and abroad.
In August, 2019, the light found it ’s way into the new building of the Rosenthal Campus in Basel, which accomodates the University Center for Dental Medicine (UZB) and rooms for the Department of Environmental Science.
There, they illuminate the elongated, double-sided, work islands of the discipline-specific library branch. The rectangular head of the lamp, mounted centrally on a long shaft, directs the illumination, broadly and glare- free, onto the work surface by means of a satin-finished cover. The custom base-plate, cleanly flush-mounted in the table surface as requested by the client, contains the light switch as well as two electrical outlets. Completely new was the request to mount the lights, without a shaft, on the privacy walls of the separate single work spaces – thanks to in-house manufacturing, no problem.
